Waves Like Mountains is an exhibition presenting a suite of new drawings by local artist Kristone Capistrano. The show tracks the growing gesturality and abstraction of his ink and charcoal works that coincides with his move to Kirribilli mid 2022. Refined and closely rendered figurations begin to melt into greater gesturality and loosely moving forms that resemble mountains and wave; vibrations, wavelengths and dancing lines oscillating in shades of black and grey.
Kristone Capistrano is a Philippine-born artist based in Sydney and Manila working within contemporary drawing and mark-making; on paper, film, performance and community collaborations. His works explore notions of mortality, transience and contemporary figurations.
Stroll and Sketch
Participants are invited for a leisurely walk from the Kirribilli Neighbourhood Centre to Wendy’s Secret Garden. Bring your hats, sketchbooks and favourite drawing tool as we go on a relaxed sketching stroll by the harbour. Meet at the centre at 11am for 11:05am departure.

Adults Drawing Workshop
This class will be a crash course on how to effectively use tone and shading when creating your own drawings.
Using the artworks on display as examples, participants will get a close-up demonstration of various charcoal blending and shading techniques that will allow students to create their own charcoal and pencil works.
